Fat Melting Injections

Targeted aqualyx-based injections that dissolve stubborn pockets of localised fat, contour work without surgical intervention.

Consultation

A 45-minute private consultation precedes every booking. We assess suitability, map the face, and agree a written plan before any treatment is confirmed.

Downtime

Most clients return to normal activity the same day. Any localised swelling or redness typically settles within 24–72 hours.

Aftercare

A review is offered at the clinically appropriate interval for each protocol, with photographs taken under standardised lighting to document progress.

Common Questions

What clients typically ask.

Answers below are summaries of widely accepted clinical practice. Your specific plan is always confirmed in consultation.

How do fat-dissolving injections work?

They contain a detergent-class solution (most commonly a deoxycholic-acid-based compound such as Aqualyx) that disrupts the membrane of fat cells in the treated pocket. The fat cells release their contents, which are then cleared through the body's natural lymphatic and metabolic pathways over several weeks.

Is it a weight-loss treatment?

No. It is a contouring treatment for small, localised pockets of subcutaneous fat, most often under the chin, on the flanks, or on the inner thighs. It is not an alternative to diet, exercise, or medical weight management, and is not appropriate for patients with a raised BMI seeking overall fat loss.

How many sessions are needed?

Most areas require 2 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, with visible change typically appearing from 6 weeks as the inflammatory clearance process completes.

What are the side effects?

Swelling, tenderness, warmth, bruising, and firmness in the treated area are expected for up to 2 weeks. Deoxycholic-acid products are known to produce pronounced swelling, this is part of the mechanism, not a complication. Rarer risks include nerve irritation and skin irregularity if the product is misplaced.

Who is not a candidate?

Fat-dissolving injections are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in active autoimmune disease, in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, or in those seeking generalised weight loss. Suitability is assessed at consultation.
