Collagen Induction Therapy in Manchester

A clinically validated technique using controlled micro-injury to trigger the skin's own collagen and elastin production, improving texture, scarring, and overall skin quality.

All treatments at Revitalised Aesthetics are carried out by Le Xu, a Registered Nurse and Independent Nurse Prescriber. Every booking begins with a 45-minute consultation to assess suitability, discuss contraindications, and obtain informed consent. Outcomes vary; no results are guaranteed.

Consultation

A 45-minute private consultation precedes every booking. We assess suitability, map the face, and agree a written plan before any treatment is confirmed.

Downtime

Most clients return to normal activity the same day. Any localised swelling or redness typically settles within 24–72 hours.

Aftercare

A review is offered at the clinically appropriate interval for each protocol, with photographs taken under standardised lighting to document progress.

Common Questions

What clients typically ask.

Answers below are summaries of widely accepted clinical practice. Your specific plan is always confirmed in consultation.

What is collagen induction therapy?

Collagen induction therapy (CIT) uses a sterile device to create thousands of micro-channels through the epidermis into the upper dermis. The wound-healing cascade triggered by this controlled injury produces new collagen and elastin fibres, improving the structural quality of the skin over the following weeks to months.

How does this relate to micro-needling?

They are the same technique. CIT is the clinical term that describes the mechanism; micro-needling describes the tool. The terms are used interchangeably in peer-reviewed literature and clinical practice.

What does CIT treat?

There is Level 1 and Level 2 evidence supporting CIT for atrophic acne scarring, fine lines, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture. Some studies support use for hyperpigmentation and stretch marks. It is not a primary treatment for active inflammatory acne, keloid scarring, or deep bound-down scars.

How many sessions are needed?

Most skin quality concerns respond well to a course of 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Acne scarring typically requires more sessions. Results from each session continue to develop for up to 3 months as new collagen matures.

What is the downtime?

Redness similar to moderate sunburn for 24 to 48 hours, with possible pinpoint bruising or dryness over days 2 to 4. Strict SPF50 is non-negotiable for 2 weeks. Retinoids and vitamin C are paused for 5 to 7 days to avoid irritation on treated skin.
